Special issue: Quadrennial Ozone Symposium — Status and trends Research article 23 Oct Sofieva viktoria. For the merged dataset, we used the latest versions of the original ozone datasets.
With this set, we honor Isis and Osiris. We will invoke these two influential deities as we book passage on the wing of a falcon-god and astral travel back to the ancient Egyptian pantheon. Isis is a powerful queen and ancient goddess of Egypt. She is the mother of Horus, patron of magic, leader of women, symbol of divine motherhood and matrimony. Her love for Osiris is the stuff of ancient legend, perhaps the greatest eternal love story of all time. Her magic is of memory and remembrance. She holds the direction of East and the element of wind, and as such she creates movement across time boundaries. She is past, present, and future. As we honor Isis and Osiris, we will summon our own ancient abilities and recognize the depth of our feminine power as well as the expanse of our masculine energy.
Special issue: Changes in the vertical distribution of ozone — the SI2N report Research article 09 Jul These data are merged into a multi-instrument, long-term stratospheric ozone record —present by analyzing the measurements during the overlap period of — when both satellite instruments were operational. The recovery is not significant between 25 and 35 km altitudes when accounting for a conservative estimate of instrument drift. Annales Geophysicae. Atmospheric Measurement Techniques. Research article 15 Jun Correspondence : Landon A. Rieger landon. Limb scatter instruments in the UV—vis spectral range have provided long-term global records of stratospheric aerosol extinction important for climate records and modelling. While comparisons with occultation instruments show generally good agreement, the source and magnitude of the biases arising from retrieval assumptions, approximations in the radiative transfer modelling and inversion techniques have not been thoroughly characterized. Stratospheric aerosols play an import role in several atmospheric processes, including radiative forcing and ozone depletion. While limb scatter provides greatly improved global coverage over occultation satellites, it requires additional assumptions and computationally expensive forward models to perform the inversions. While this is the average case, biases at certain latitudes and altitudes can be considerably larger.
