Lewis Capaldi has confirmed that his huge song 'Someone You Loved' isn't actually written about an ex girlfriend. In an interview with an Australian music channel, Lewis confirmed that the song is actually about his grandmother, not a former flame. Lewis said, "The song is not about a lady who I was in a romantic relationship. Attempting to keep the conversation on the lighter note, Lewis continued, "She died a few years ago. Your classic death, not coming back that sort of thing. When Love Island contestant Paige revealed that she'd been in a relationship with Lewis, many believed the song could have been about her. The singer confirmed the pair had dated however he hadn't been given a heads up that she'd be starring on the show; "She never told me she was going on it, that would have been a nice heads up, but fair play, good luck to her". He said, "A lot of people say that 'the best songs fall into your lap' and that they're the easiest ones to write and take the shortest amount of time: I wholeheartedly disagree with that. The first music video was released on 8 February , starring actor Peter Capaldi , who is Lewis Capaldi's second cousin once removed. It was directed by filmmaker Phil Beastall.
The Scots singer, 22, unveiled the new music video as it was premiered on YouTube for the first time tonight. The hit song already featured a tearjerker of a video starring relative and Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi. It sees Lewis star in the video himself as he plays a heartbroken man in the immediate aftermath of a break-up with his girlfriend — while pals try to stop him from chasing after her. The original video featured Peter Capaldi playing the role of a grieving husband who loses his wife to illness. In the final moments of the video, Peter listens to beating heart of his wife in the body of another after donating her organs. The Live Life Give Life campaign, which is featured at the end of the video, allows recipients of donor organs to say thank you despite not being able to thank their donors in person. Fans have been reacting to the new take on song, with some revealing it pulled on their heartstrings just as much as the original video. I thought the Peter Capaldi video was heart wrenching, this is completely heart breaking. We told earlier how Lewis rounded off a hectic festival schedule this summer by playing two nights at Edinburgh Summer Sessions.
